NUMBER THIRTY-FOUR:

THE OFFICE (2001-2003)

Due to Youtube regulations, we can only show a 5 second clip of each show before those PINHEADS shut us down. Thankfully, our video team has picked some of the most meaningful 5 second moments in each show's history.

Jixby Phillips (ranked it 14):

Is this the first show on the list that has made me cry? Mother fucker, Newsradio even had a perfect opportunity with Phil Hartman’s death and all to be a real tear-jerk-off. Way to blow it, assholes. This show follows the tradition of Fawlty Towers by intentionally ending after 12 episodes. Would this happen if the show JUST did okay? If it didn’t take the whole WORLD by storm, it would probably have a few more seasons in it. That is my personal theory about British shows that do well and are aware they are doing well so they invoke the Fawlty Towers rule of LETS STOP AFTER EPISODE 12. Young Ones, you know what I’m talking about, right? This is also why there are 600 episodes of Benny Hill.

This is a good show to watch when you are sick for some reason. Because you have 7 hours to just be in bed doing nothing and then crying at the end of it helps you get the flu out. Then you’re ready for a shower. You feel like a new man when you get out. Trust me! It works.

For a show I ranked so highly, I don't have a whole lot to say about it. Everyone knows what this is. Because chances are if you haven't seen it, you've seen the American version. PS: if you are that person, and you tried the British version by way of discovering the American version and it didn’t do it for you? Just keep watching it, please. Watch it until you like it. It’s worth liking this show. And you British comedy nerds who claim the American version is better? You’re wrong. Stop hating Ricky Gervais you dumb snobs.

London Arbuckle (ranked it 39)

I never watched this until I had to rank the original list and I tracked down a couple clips on youtube. All I can remember is that a pornographic picture with Ricky Gervais' head photoshopped in became David Koechner leaving something vile in Michael's office for the US version. I imagine if I ever try watching anymore of this I'll be too distracted by all the things that got changed for/transferred to the American show. Not this show's fault, but still!

COMMENTS FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY

Buster Simmons: Hey cry-babies, some of us don't even have a boss much less a stupid one. Count your blessings.

Chad Newmarket: sorry but when i hear jabber from britshit like this i loose my mind remind me to never go to england, everyone sucks

Frances Mildred Gertrude “Frandma” Prescott: Oh, that boss is awful! I guess this is what men have to put up with when they go to work! When I heard it was a british documentary i was HOPING it would be one of those wonderful Michael Pailing shows where he travels the world. But it wasn't, it was all about life in an ofice building in London England. A very interesting documentary series!

IMDB TRIVIA (found by Mr. Adventure!)

The UK broadcast of The Office was never meant to be viewed outside of the UK due to the overwhelming cost of subtitles.

WHERE TO WATCH THE OFFICE

It's all on DVD! You can get your big series-encompasing box set, or you can get the seperate series. FUN FACT: In ENGLAND they call TV Seasons SERIES. Please remember this for when you are traveling overseas. You can get murdered on the streets for a mix-up like that.
